I came across a recipe last month that I think is perfect for this month of celebrating, potlucks, and hosting a crowd. It’s pretty easy to make (and make ahead!), can be made vegetarian easily, is gluten-free, is a HUGE amount of food, and tastes even better the next day! What’s not to love?!
Without further ado, I give you:
I made this recipe AS IS (I know…who am I?!?!) for the first go-round but I am already planning to make it again with more and different vegetables added in…and maybe (spoiler alert!) cut the recipe in half next time 😉.
This recipe is a KEEPER, in my books anyways.
As always, my co-host Donna and I are looking forward to seeing what’s been on your plates! Please check out Donna’s post where she transforms one of my garden squash into a delectable meal. Here is how to get to the link up party…and/or feel free to let me know in the Comments!
Rock on,
The WB
That looks tasty, though I’m not an anchovy fan. Love one dish suppers…
The anchovy in the sauce is like the white wine in risotto. You can’t really taste it but if it’s not there, the dish is definitely missing something you can’t quite put your finger on. Thanks, Rivergirl 💕
Looks like a crowd pleaser
It really pleased our crowd of 3, for several days! 😉 Thanks, Sheree 💕
😎
That looks really good. I’m going to check out the video right now. 😋
I’ve become a fan of his channel. Made some amazing scalloped potatoes as well from a Sip and Feast recipe and an encore of that dish has been requested for the holidays! Thanks, Deborah 💕
I followed him too! Thanks for sharing that video and you images of your dish. 😍
My pleasure!
Deb, this looks like cold weather comfort food to me. A few weeks ago, Malcolm made an eggplant lazagna that grew well beyond the dish also. We had it three times in one week. So good.
Cute video. I love that he called himself out on using the metal spoon and the kid taste-testing was priceless.
It is very much comfort food – you are bang on, Suzanne! I’ve subscribed to his channel AND his newsletter – entertaining videos and excellent recipes – what’s not to love!? Thank you 💕
Love Italian casseroles. Never made one with rice but this looks good!
It’s a winner recipe, for sure! Thanks, Kate 💕
Did you use the anchovies? I wonder if it would work with orzo? I would definitely add more veggies like mushrooms and zucchini but I might skip the peas.
I couldn’t get anchovies at the grocery store but I did find and use anchovy paste (basically the same thing). Yes to the mushrooms and zucchini. I don’t know why it wouldn’t work with orzo or any smallish pasta. Thanks, Bernie 💕
Fabulous looking dish, Deb. I loved the video too. The first thing I noticed was that the cook’s shirt kinda matches his living room chair. Yup, that’s exactly how my mind thinks! The second thing that I noticed (and he then commented on) was the shape of the meat. I don’t spend much time in meat departments or butcher shops but I have never, ever seen meat shaped that way.
Awesome post. I will definitely be trying this dish in the future — and his ratatouille.
I can recommend his scalloped potatoes too!!! Thanks, Donna 💕
Looks lovely!
Tastes even better than it looks! Thank you 💕
I love one dish meals like this… and it sounds pretty straight-forward to make. Great for feeding a crowd and for leftovers (my favorite meal).
Mine too! It is easy and straight forward. Thanks, Janis 💕
Yes, please, Deb! Looks delicious and I’m sure your kitchen smelled diving whilst the dish was cooking. I’ve never been to a pot luck get together. This recipe will be perfect for the Festive Season as a break after all the traditional fare. Thanks for hosting #WOYP and also I’m impressed by your green thumb after reading Donna’s post. x
Thank you, Sue 💕 I had a fabulous first year with my garden!
Now that’s a different take – and I absolutely adore Arancini, so if this is reminiscent, I’m in. Never heard of that cheese he used – smoked or non, but will be hunting it down 🙂
I couldn’t find that cheese anywhere! Had to use the substitute. Good luck, Debs! Thank you 💕
Nice one Deb!
Thank you, Debbie 💕
This looks so yummy!
It definitely was! I’ll be making it again. Thanks, Lynn 💕

ooooooo I love baked rice casseroles! Yours looks colourfully yummy! And having it with salad …. I like how you roll (I have to have everything with undressed salad!)
I had to balance out all of that delicious carbohydrate goodness with some leafy greens! Thanks, Ju-Lyn 💕
Ha, I seem to recognise the pan holding the meat sauce. It’s not too hard to recognise Dutch heritage in a kitchen. 😉
My absolute favourite pan!!! I see these Everything Pans being advertised everywhere but this beauty is my Everything pan, always 😍. Thanks, Cuz 💕
