On the last day of 2025, Bowser and I enjoyed a foggy walk on the trails.
Eeek! I had no idea how close he was to the edge of the bank when I snapped the picture. There are eagles hanging out by the water right now. We think it means there are fish migrating in this creek.Found this jelly-like fungus growing on this stump.iNaturalist is not very helpful in this instance. I can’t figure out which one this could be. My vote is for Witch’s Butter just because of the cool name.I think this could be a white coral fungus. All good explorations eventually come to an end. Time to head back home.Later that night Bowser invited me to be his NYE date and hang out at his house until his mommy and daddy came home.Jeez, it’s not even 9 pm Bowsie!
Well, at least I outlasted the dog although I didn’t make it to midnight.
Welcome 2026! We hope you had a lovely NYE and all the best for the coming year.
Hi Deb – well he’s faithful … and that ‘yellow ooze’ – interesting to say the least … and yes fog and v damp it looked – much better to be home and warm … all the best to you, the family and Bowser for 2026 – cheers Hilary
Don’t you wish you could read his mind when he’s looking at nature. He always look so pensive, like he’s a great philosopher ready to spill a great line that would be quoted over the centuries.
Fun post! Here’s what Google Images says about the fungus: “The yellow-orange fungus in the image is a type of jelly fungus, likely either Yellow Brain (Tremella mesenterica) or a very similar species such as Orange Jelly Spot (Dacrymyces chrysospermus.” From your list, I definitely would have gone with OJS! 😀
Me and my “date” conked out at about 9:30 on NYE. You have the coolest mushrooms up there. I’ve seen a few around here after all the rain we’ve had but they are pretty much standard issue.
Lovely! May the year ahead bring you more opportunities for invigorating walks, good health and laughter!
Thank you very much, Ju-Lyn! I wish the same for you and yours 💕
Yikes! He was close to that edge. Good thing you didn’t have to go for a rescue swim.
And I vote for Witches Butter as well.
👍
Yes! Good thing!!! Thank you, Rivergirl 💕
I’m thinking it’s a massive dose of earwax from the giant who lives in the forest, but witch’s butter is my second choice. Happy New Year!
😂 Yes, and also yuck!🤢 Happy New Year to you too, Suzanne 💕
Alaska (mini schnauzer) and I didn’t make it to midnight either 😂
I almost never do! Good to know I’m keeping good company. Thank you, Scheina (and Alaska!) 💕
You had the best NYE date ever (although he did conk out early!).
Thank you, Kate 💕I think so too!

Yes, he is that! Thank you very much, Hilary 💕 Same to you!
I didn’t make it to midnight either. Even though its scary to look at, that first photo is really beautiful.
I think the fog/mist makes everything look extra mysterious! Thank you very much, Dawn 💕

I do wish for that! Thank you, Jean 💕
Fungi have cool names and are so interesting.
Absolutely! Thanks, Bernie 💕

Hi Donna, nice to see you here. I hope all is well in your life. We miss you in bloggerland. Happy New Year!
Yellow Brain fungus vs Orange Jelly Spot? Hmmmm…whatever it is, it really stood out! Thanks, Donna 💕

We’re fungal-y blessed around here, that’s for sure 😁. Thank you, Janis 💕
