The Sunday Schnauzer – Rain Turns to Snow

On October 25, we woke up to snow. We had experienced an atmospheric river event the day before and as the temperatures dropped, the rain turned to the white stuff.

The morning’s walk looked like this.

Hey Bowser, do you remember snow from last year?
Between heavily laden tree branches bent down low and the deep ruts turning into mini-ponds, it was a tough slog at times on our normally open trail.
Bowser of course was up to any challenge.
Adventure boy!

We hope you are having adventurous weather too (but not too adventurous!).

Rock on,

The WB

  1. A few years back we had a freak storm on Oct. 31 (yep, Halloween!). We got 6 inches. The trees still had leaves and there was a lot of damage. The first snow is always special. So pretty. Come about February I’m cursing it! 🙂

    1. Yeah, he’s not so quick to disappear against the rocks now! The snow didn’t last much beyond that day so we’re back to only being able to spot him at certain points due to his harness, or movement. Thanks, Ally 💕

  2. No adventurous weather here, so I will just admire yours from afar. Actually, we are headed out to the beach in a couple of hours to catch the first early sunset of the season. Maybe the waves will feel adventurous and put on a good show for us.

  3. Beautiful photos, Deb – thank you!
Yep, we had some fairly heavy snow showers Wednesday, but the ground’s still so warm nothing stuck. At least not in our area! 😉 Is yours gone now?

Hi Deb – we’ve had stormy weather – not often here … but wet, wet, wet! I’m just glad I’m not in the white stuff – pretty though it is. Good for Bowser – but if he’d been here … he’d have been in Siberia now … on his way home by wind mail to you, granted! Cheers Hilary

    1. Actually Bowser is a huge snuggle bug! But when he is inside and not feeling like snuggling, he plays with his toys…tossing them around and making them squeak. He really is no trouble except when he is squeaking away while you are trying to have a conversation or watching TV 🤣. He has a knack for picking those moments 🤭.

That looks like just the right amount of snow to look pretty but not hang around too long and make life difficult. Can you tell I have a conflicted relationship with snow? 😀
