Theme Reveal, Post Challenge #AtoZChallenge

Did you guess the song that is my theme?

In the summer of 1970 I turned 11 years old, and this song was a #1 hit all over the world.

Here it is:

Karen, from The Unassuming Hiker, was the first to guess it correctly – On her April 7 comment on my post G is for Gardening.

Congratulations, Karen! You win a new car….bragging rights!!!!

But Karen wasn’t the only one to guess this song. Both Susan and Joanne guessed it here.

I don’t know about you guys but I had TONS of fun with this challenge and having you guess at my theme. This may become an annual event!

There were great guesses! And you reminded me of so many songs that I’ve loved, and could have chosen for my theme as well.

I especially loved one of Joanne’s many guesses (and this song – I was a huge 3 Dog Night fan at one time):

In coming up with a song for the challenge, I almost chose “My Favourite Things”, Sarah’s (from Travels with Choppy) guess from my F post.

But I had summer on the brain, so the song had to be focused on that.

I also seriously thought about using this one, that Karen guessed on my L post:

Every time I hear this song, I am transported back to long summer days in the yard, playing with my sisters and hearing it coming from the radio in my dad’s man cave workshop attached to the garage.

(I kinda hate this clip though, with Nat King Cole singing to only white people. Where is everybody else, having “fun in the sun”, huh?)

I hope you all enjoyed the A-Z Challenge posts and guessing my theme as much I enjoyed writing them and reading your comments.

Rock on (In the Summertime, and all the time…),

The WB

  1. I think having a theme for your readers to guess was brilliant and a lot of fun.

I hadn’t thought of the Nat King Cole song, but it would have been a great one too!

Well done, Deb. Looking forward to next year’s surprise already. No pressure 😉

  2. This was great, and I love how you organized your A to Z posts. What a great idea for a theme AND the post theme reveal was also an A+ choice.

I love that song and I had a great time reading your challenge posts. They got me looking forward to summer, even though Mother Nature wasn’t cooperating. I misunderstood the rules of the challenge. I thought each post would have a different song as its inspiration, not one song for the entire challenge.

What a fun idea for your A-Z challenge. I didn’t make it here during the challenge, but I’m now making my way through the other 13 featured “no longer strangers” from Karen Hume’s blog.

What a fun theme, Deb! I wish that I was following along from the beginning. It would have been great fun to guess. I’m not surprised that Joanne (My Life Lived Full) and Karen (Unassuming HIker) made the correct guess. I regularly follow them both and they are very smart cookies…. I am sure that Susan and all of your other followers are as well!
Please, please do this theme again next year so that I can play along!

  6. Had such a blast listening/watching the music videos … truly a blast to the past! Love love love Joy To the World! For some reason, when I was growing up, “Jeremiah was a bull-frog, tng tng tng” (the was actually the only line we would shout on top of our voices) was chorused by my sister and I, and always led to uncontrollable giggles after!

    1. My sisters and I used to belt out that song too! I think it was a favourite of a lot of kids (and adults too). Middle sis and I used to tease the youngest by changing the words to “Joyce to the world” (her name), and she’d get mad at us. I don’t know why – I wish there were more songs (are there any?) with my name or that I could insert my name into.

Here's where the magic happens. I love comments!
