Z is for Ziplining #AtoZChallenge

Sign indicating where ziplining takes place over the Elora Gorge. I love how the stick figure has it’s arm flung out confidently and joyously. I imagine it going “Wooohoooo!” Or maybe that’s just my interpretation. Others might interpret the figure signalling for help, in a panic. I prefer my version. 😉

The weekend after our horrible ice storm weekend, I made it out to Elora Gorge where  – although the weather had warmed up a bit – there was still plenty of ice and snow on the ground.

I found signs posted for a fun summer activity in the Gorge – well, actually over the Gorge. This gorge:

Peeking through the trees at the Elora Gorge – April 22

Ziplining!

Start having fun a-this-a-way!

Doesn’t this look cool?

This is on my agenda for Summer 2018.

What about you? Have you ever ziplined? Would you?

Aaaaand, that’s a wrap for this year’s A-Z Challenge! Have you guessed my theme yet?

Stay tuned for tomorrow’s theme reveal!

Rock on,

The WB

Can you guess my theme for this year’s A-Z Challenge? All of my A-Z posts this month will be tied into my theme, which is represented by the title of a song that was popular when I was a child. Can you figure it out as the days (and posts) go by? Leave your guesses (one per day only, please) in the comments. At the end of the challenge, I will reveal the theme. Have fun!

  1. Umm, I saw the stick figure guy’s arm flung out in panic. So I guess for me it would be a ‘no’ to the ziplining, although I could probably be talked into it if it wasn’t over a gorge. There’s a place near me where you can zipline through a forest. That’s probably more my speed – if I had a speed for ziplining that is.

Congratulations on completing the challenge, Deb. While I am still clueless about the particular song, I enjoyed and was inspired by your daily posts about the summer to come.

    1. Hehehe! I feel that way about bungee jumping or skydiving – no way I would do those things. But, ziplining seems quite safe by comparison. At least to me.
Thanks, Karen! All will be revealed tomorrow morning!

  2. I don’t see myself as a woman who goes ziplining. Maybe if it were over a nice lake, in a sunny locale, with a safe place to land, and friends there to make sure I survived, I MIGHT try it. But probably not.

  3. Deb, I have thoroughly enjoyed your AtoZ posts this year. The idea of a theme we could guess on all month was just brilliant and I can’t wait to find out tomorrow what the song is!

I have done zip lining, but only on a smallish zip line. My husband used to run a ropes course. I remembered being absolutely terrified to step off the platform, it I loved through it. My stick figure wouldn’t have been doing anything with an arm other than holding on, white-knuckled, for dear life!

    1. Thanks, Susan! I had so much fun reading people’s guesses – I don’t know how I can top this next year.

I expect to be terrified as well when I go ziplining, as I do have a bit of a fear of heights. But, like you, I also expect to love it!

      Deb

  4. Congratulations on completing the challenge. I’m now ready for warm weather after all you summer posts. I’ve not tried zip lining but my hiking women really want to try and I’m not opposed to it. I agree with you, it seems much safer than sky diving. Can’t wait to hear what the song is.

Zip lines actually look like a lot of fun to me. I could see me doing it if the opportunity presented itself.

I’ve enjoyed your challenge, too, but it went by way to quickly. Can’t wait for the big reveal.

  6. I ziplined once at my son’s summer camp – it was from a tall tree. Two kids stood below with ropes to stop me at the end and they got out of sync with their pulling, putting me into somewhat of an egg beater situation. I had rope burns all over my legs, and that was the last time I tried it! Haha! – Molly

I did zipline last summer, and I have every intention of doing it again this year. 200 feet in the air was such a blast. Last year I wanted to go skydiving too, but apparently they have a weight restriction and 225 was many slices of pizza ago, so I settled for going to the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome in New York State and going up in an open cockpit biplane, leather helmet and all. It was so much fun. BTW, the Red Baron never stood a chance, I waxed his six.

  8. Woohoo! You ended the A-to-Z with a bang 🙂

I guess you wouldn’t be surprised to learn I have zip-lined … and sky-dived. I think you would love both.

I didn’t know the Elora Gorge had zip lining. You’ve just given me another reason to go there this summer!

I love your interpretation of the Ziplining stick figure, Deb. That positivity has confirmed my good choice in just signing up to follow your posts regularly! Looking forward to them.
