Changing Seasons April 2018

April has been a very tough month where I live.

Spring is dragging its heels. And to add insult to injury, we had an ice storm that lasted 2 days in the middle of the month!

Despite all of this, the flowers are still trying to bloom.

Crocuses – April 21

And we took advantage of sunny weather and warmish temps on April 22, to get out for hike at the Elora Gorge. The icy ground made our walk treacherous at times. I had to grab my hiking pools out of the back of Edward II, for stability.

Today is sunny but still cool and with a bitter wind, to boot. I did get out for a short walk, however, and saw these beauties.

Daffodils – April 29

All this cold weather has one benefit – keeping me playing in the studio.

Can’t say I’m sorry to see the back end of April. Hopefully May brings a return to warmer temperatures!

The Changing Seasons is a monthly challenge hosted by Su Leslie at Zimmerbitch.

Rock on,

Your weather and ours here in West Michigan h ave been tracking the same this spring. I’m so glad it’s on the run. I have been on a walk yet. Maybe today is the day. Thanks for the inspiration.

  2. Beautiful art work! And what is that man statue thing in the second picture? I thought it was a real person half buried in the ice/snow at first.

    1. Thank you, Akilah!
That is my Buddha of the Badass Rooftop Garden. Instead of sitting under the bodhi tree, this Buddha achieves enlightenment under my pole beans. 🙂

  3. May has to be better. In my humble opinion it cannot be given a choice! There were a few flakes of snow this morning, but they disappeared as they hit the ground. I’m going to think of that as winter’s last hurrah. It’s done, we are done!

    1. I use dots of paint on the canvas to create the texture. I have tools dedicated to this, but one can use anything round and flat, really – the eraser on the end of a pencil, a lollipop stick, the flat end of a crochet hook. I’ve experimented with them all!

  4. The snow looks so lovely when it’s melting and the sky is blue. Hope your weather improves very soon (and that you don’t totally abandon the studio). I love your artwork 🙂
