Bowser’s other grandmother was over recently and marvelled at the state of his teeth. “How are they so white? Do you have them cleaned? (No) Do you brush them? (No) Then why are they so crazy white?

Bowser, happily munching on a found wisteria trimming.This actual dog can happily chew on a stick or one of his many toys for hours a day, supervising watching us work like proverbial dogs in the garden.

My schnauzer ended up with some very serious dental bills after he turned four and I was told its common in the breed, especially if you keep a long beard which Levi had much of his life. You keep Browser’s quite short in comparison so let’s hope it helps keep bacteria out of his mouth that causes gum issues. He is so dang cute!
I did not know that, about the beard! We keep his quite trimmed (along with the rest of him) because he’s on trails and bounding through the bush on the daily. Thanks, Jean 💕
Look at his big, silly smile. I’m gonna have to pass along this information to all my friends: Think of the money we will save on those dentistry bills. STICKS FOR EVERYONE!
I think that chewing on sticks was the preferred human dental hygiene before toothbrushes were invented. I think it’s still done in some parts of the world. I know I read it somewhere but can’t remember where (of course! 😔). Maybe we should go back to it? Thanks, Suz 💕
Wow! Penny likes sticks and often brings one home during one of her neighborhood walks. She’s always proud of it. But we won’t let her chew it up because she swallows the bits. She’s always sad to give up one of her sticks, I tell her she can have it next time we go for a walk but by then she’s scouting for a new one.
Those spiky chew toys are a hit with Bowser and achieved the same dental purpose as chewing on sticks (or bones). Would they work for Penny? Thanks for the comment, Dawn 💕

On our 4th dog and this is the first one who isn’t constantly chewing on sticks and bones. And this is the first one that we have ever had to pay to get teeth cleaned. We are doing our best to keep new and interesting bones for her to chew. He looks a lighter colour in these photos but it is likely just the sunlight.
As to voting — fingers crossed we manage it tomorrow. No voter’s cards showed up, have our ID lined up but can’t find the poling station as it won’t recognize our “new” Canada post address. Our neighbour did a mail in ballot but will call another neighbour tomorrow and see if they have voted. But Canada Post moved them as well and if they waited till the last day like us then I guess we will drive to town and go to the community hall and see if it is there. So we shall see what the adventure looks like!

Bowser’s smarter than me. I don’t chew on a stick. Instead I go to the dentist, and he then he stick’s me with a bill.

Growing up in India, it was a common sight in the villages to see small twigs being used for tooth cleaning – not unalike those pictures of The Bowz 🙂
