Bowser has been spending even more time at my house this past week, to give each dog a break from the other. I can’t say that I am mad about that ๐.
It’s been an interesting week! Who knew Bowser could appear to be practically zen-like, in comparison? ๐คฃ

I did not realise you were a Schnauzer owner! I have two! Wonderful dogs. I hope Bowser is slowly adjusting to the guest. Some Schnauzers are better as only dogs. So intelligent but stubborn.
I used to be a schnauzer owner. Now I am a schnauzer grandmother ๐. Bowser belongs to my daughter and son-in-law, but because we live on the same property (separate dwellings), he considers me part of his pack. They certainly are stubborn dogs, arenโt they? ๐คฃ Thanks for the comment! ๐
Schnauzer Mum and Grandmum here. Stubborn, yes but so smart, intuitive and so very lovable. I do not look forward to the day when my life isn’t accompanied by a wet beardy kiss through the day! Lol.
Did you have a mini or a standard yourself?
Not currently, no. Iโve had 2 minis in the past though and always thought Iโd get another one once I retired. But I feel no need to get a dog of my own now that I have Bowser in my life. For me, mini Schnauzers are the perfect dog – hardy enough for any outdoor activities, small and cuddly enough for inside, smart and loyal to a fault.๐
I had a Standard Schnauzer, a rescue dog for almost 13 years. The best dog that ever lived! Now standards are very hard to come by here and there are a lot of advantages to having a Miniature Schnauzer. Easier to groom and pick up for starters. My dog is so much more a lapdog than our Standard was, and my daughter’s dog thinks she is invincible. Such wonderful company and I agree loyal to a fault.

Oh my. What a cute house guest. I know what you mean about yours seeming calm in comparison. We went on a walk last werkend with a friend and her dog aggressive cocker. He lunged and spun on his leash the entire (short) walk. Penny looked absolutely sedate in comparison. Which she is not. At all. Ever.
Hi Deb – well they each have character don’t they? It’s good of Bowser’s Mom and Dad to look after Poppy – not sure I understand why Poppy is a boy – but what do I know living in England! Cheers – I’m sure Bowser is as happy as you – fire and all – where’s the crumpets (one each! ??). Hilary
We were very impressed with Bowserโs manners regarding the interloper. It probably helped that Bowser wanted to snack on said interloperโs food whenever he got the chance ๐คฃ. Thanks, Kate ๐
It sounded more like near-constant whining or complaining than a breathing issue. Poppy didnโt make those noises when sleeping or when he was being cuddled or otherwise doing something he seemed happier doing. We chalked it up to nerves. Thanks, Rivergirl ๐
The contrast of Poppy and Bowser is like me trying to keep up with my kids on vacation…Poor old sweetie, no wonder he’d rather take a ride in your jacket.
Poppy did valiantly try to keep up on our walks but we were careful to attend to him when he showed the first signs of flagging. If only our kids would do the same, right? ๐คฃ Thanks, Suzanne ๐
Small dogs like pugs and chihuahuas tend to have a LOT of respiratory issues. I see he’s perfected the small dog routine of “I’m so tired, you must pick me up”. And you fell for it ๐
I’m not fond of Chihuahua as a breed. Never knew one that wasn’t aggressive, trying to prove their small size doesn’t matter. But it’s good for Bowser to be around a house guest from time to time.
Oh gosh, the over-peeing must’ve been most confusing for poor Bowzer. After all, he’s used to being the king of his castle and the surrounding lands! It looks extremely cozy in front of that lovely fire of yours Deb ๐
Poppy was cute, but now I know for sure chihuahuas are not the breed for me, ever. Bowser was really good at sharing his space – I was impressed. Thanks, Ally ๐
My chiweenie’s boyfriend is Milton the Schnauzer, and they get along great. The coffee pot is a chihuahua thing. Not a lot of room for air in that little throat and nose.
Bowser wanted to play with Poppy but he wasnโt having it. Maybe if Poppy was youngerโฆIโm glad Carole Baskin has a Schnauzer friend! Thanks, Kieran ๐

๐คฃ So true! You donโt appreciate your dog until you look after someone elseโs. Thanks, Dawn๐
Too cute the pair of them!
They were pretty cute together. Poppy has gone home now, and peace has returned to Bowserโs kingdom ๐. Thanks, Sheree ๐
You mean he now has your undivided attention

We were as perplexed with the name as you, Hilary ๐. Thanks ๐
It’s always hard when an interloper takes attention away from the rightful heir!

How cute is this!! Chihuahuas are so overbred they tend to have respiratory issues and can wheeze when breathing.

Could be. They are a high strung breedโฆ
Yes, he did appear to be very, very nervous ๐ฌ

We certainly did! Poppyโs โpercolatingโ was definitely low-key whining and complaining and not a respiratory thing. Thanks, Bernie ๐
Well good it wasn’t respiratory as those little breeds often struggle with that
Chihuahua’s are VERY interesting. Both Buddy and Biscuit are Chihuahua mixes and let me tell you…I should know.๐คฃ๐คฃ
They certainly have a lot ofโฆuhโฆpersonality! Thanks, Kari ๐
Personality. ๐คฃ๐คฃ
Poppy is adorable too. And more Bowser time for Oma. What could be more perfect?
Nothing, thatโs what! ๐ Thank you, Donna ๐
Loved all the pics, as usual. The napping pic with the two of them, though…๐ Bowser, of course, remains #1 ๐
#1 with a bullet! Thatโs Bowser ๐ฉท. Thanks, Natalie ๐

Yes, good for Bowser and good for us to see what this breed is all about. Not the dog for me, thatโs for sure! Thanks, Jean ๐

Bowser was pretty darn benevolent, considering how heโs used to being treated like a little doggy god around here ๐คฃ. Thank you, Debs ๐
A sweet story. Gives new insight into Bowser’s personality, plus Poppy is cute in his regal way.
