We had some snow this week. Early and atypical for Vancouver Island. Bowser had not seen snow before now, and I think he kinda liked it 😉.
We hope you are having a fabulous weekend no matter the weather.
Rock on,

Hi Deb and Bowser – it looks wonderful … and no doubt will be wonderfully puddly, muddy very soon – I remember my first snow in 2017 – quite a lot of it in early December … as you say this is light and very beautiful … delightful memories of when it snowed in Johannesburg for me and my dog back then, he jumped around in delight! Cheers and happy/peaceful weekend – it’s damp here … Remembrance Sunday. Hilary
Dogs find delight in the everyday, don’t they? Valuable lessons for us all, there. Thanks, Hilary 💕
Nothing makes me smile more than the antics of your precious dog. What a sweet thing he is. Makes you want to pick him up, hug the stuffings out of him and let him down to run and play again. Thank you… love this.
I feel the same way about Bowser! Thank you very much 💕
Beautiful photos! I remember my Maxie (Bowser’s twin) just loving snow too. ❄️ ❤️
Thank you, Natalie 💕 Dogs will find joy in just about anything, won’t they?
So cute!
I am calling it Flinter from now on. 👍
Hehehe! Thank you, Rivergirl 💕
Puppies playing in their first snow. It doesn’t get much better than that. I can’t believe you can trust him off leash the way you do. Levi would have chased a leaf on the wind to Canada had he not been leashed. Anything that moved he would chase. I guess grandmas got more control over fur-babies than moms.
Bowser has been so good off-leash. He roams ahead but checks frequently to make sure I am following. If the distance between us gets past a certain point that he is no longer comfortable with, he circles back. And he comes back or stops when called to be put back on leash (when we approach civilization or a road crossing). I’ve been doing this with him since he was a wee pup. I’ve done this with every schnauzer and they’ve all exhibited the same behaviour as Bowser. The only problem is when he sees (and wants to greet) another dog. He doesn’t realize they are not all friendly, and he doesn’t want to listen to me then. Thankfully the trails we walk are mostly empty but I have to scan far ahead and get him back on leash before he notices the people and dogs in the distance. Thanks, Jean 💕
When Vancouver Island gets snow before the Maritimes, you know there’s something strange going on!
Absolutely! I had a friend visiting from Ontario earlier in October and she threatened to take back VI weather with her. And she did! We immediately got cold and rainy, and Ontario had a second summer of sorts. But of course, it couldn’t be climate change 😉. Thanks, Jane 💕
Wow! Early snow! There is something very special about a pet’s first reaction to it.
Definitely! Thanks, Kate 💕
Bowser is definitely enjoying himself
As always! It’s something to be counted on. Thanks, Sheree 💕
He must be such good company.
The best!
enjoyed the pics from a brisk and fun time outdoors. Thanks
You are most welcome! Thank you 💕
I love how dogs are so enthusiastic about EVERYTHING. New spring growth… yay! Warm summer days… yay! Fall leaves to run through… yay! Cold snow to explore… yay! I think we’d be better off if we could all adopt that positive view of life.
Absolutely! Dogs know a lot more about living and what’s truly important than a lot of people. Thanks, Janis💕
My gosh, he looks like he’s having a ball. A local ski spot in the hills near us has a dog day each year. Makes me wonder if we should take Ludo 🙂
I’d love to see you blog about that! Thanks, AJ 💕
Hi, Deb – I absolutely LOVE your fall-winter photos. You have captured our current weather brilliantly. Bowser looks very, very happy (and adorable too)!
Bowser is always thrilled to be out on the trail. Like some people I know 😉. Thanks, Donna 💕
He does look so happy! Does he get cold?
We’re in GA, it’s 35* and my dogs are freezing.
Bowser never appears to get cold. He has a pretty thick coat and runs around like a madman, so I would bet he’s plenty warm most of the time. Thanks, Suz 💕
I love experiencing the newness through children’s eyes and puppy’s eyes. Bowser’s joy is evident in the photos of the pretty snow…and we are still in the pretty stage. Thank you for my smiles, Deb💕
You are most welcome, Erica 💕. Thank you.
Spectacular!
Thank you, Rachel 💕
Welp I’d have taken your dusting of snow over our weekend of wet heavy snow gloom. However, it’s all melted now– hoping the same for you.
Yes, indeed! Snow is all gone and the sun is out (8C and lovely). Thank you, Ally 💕
Flinter!! Spell check hated it but I love it. Of course we just like go straight to winter here but I definitely saw flinter last year in Jasper. I love the joy that Bowser and all dogs get at snow. Even the 14 year old retriever loves it. As do I. Bernie
Every dog I’ve ever met loves playing in the snow! I love snow too, albeit the love affair is brief, and more so with each winter as I get older 😁. Hence my move to the island. Thanks, Bernie 💕
Beautiful photo. Thank you for sharing. How I wish I can see snow.
Thank you very much 💕. I’d send you some snow if I could 😉
Your kind thoughts are appreciated 👍
