The Sunday Schnauzer – Snow!

We had some snow this week. Early and atypical for Vancouver Island. Bowser had not seen snow before now, and I think he kinda liked it ๐Ÿ˜‰.

Wheeeeeee!
Gotta check out every puddle.
Bowser hears a noise.
Gotta shake off the snow after a romp through the bushes.
Is it fall? Is it winter? Let’s call it Flinter. It’s beautiful no matter what you call it.
Leaping through the leaves.
Blue skies emerging as the clouds dissipate. Soon the snow will all disappear.

We hope you are having a fabulous weekend no matter the weather.

Rock on,

The WB

Hi Deb and Bowser – it looks wonderful … and no doubt will be wonderfully puddly, muddy very soon – I remember my first snow in 2017 – quite a lot of it in early December … as you say this is light and very beautiful … delightful memories of when it snowed in Johannesburg for me and my dog back then, he jumped around in delight! Cheers and happy/peaceful weekend – it’s damp here … Remembrance Sunday. Hilary

  2. Nothing makes me smile more than the antics of your precious dog. What a sweet thing he is. Makes you want to pick him up, hug the stuffings out of him and let him down to run and play again. Thank you… love this.

  3. Puppies playing in their first snow. It doesn’t get much better than that. I can’t believe you can trust him off leash the way you do. Levi would have chased a leaf on the wind to Canada had he not been leashed. Anything that moved he would chase. I guess grandmas got more control over fur-babies than moms.

    1. Bowser has been so good off-leash. He roams ahead but checks frequently to make sure I am following. If the distance between us gets past a certain point that he is no longer comfortable with, he circles back. And he comes back or stops when called to be put back on leash (when we approach civilization or a road crossing). Iโ€™ve been doing this with him since he was a wee pup. Iโ€™ve done this with every schnauzer and theyโ€™ve all exhibited the same behaviour as Bowser. The only problem is when he sees (and wants to greet) another dog. He doesnโ€™t realize they are not all friendly, and he doesnโ€™t want to listen to me then. Thankfully the trails we walk are mostly empty but I have to scan far ahead and get him back on leash before he notices the people and dogs in the distance. Thanks, Jean ๐Ÿ’•

    1. Absolutely! I had a friend visiting from Ontario earlier in October and she threatened to take back VI weather with her. And she did! We immediately got cold and rainy, and Ontario had a second summer of sorts. But of course, it couldnโ€™t be climate change ๐Ÿ˜‰. Thanks, Jane ๐Ÿ’•

  4. I love how dogs are so enthusiastic about EVERYTHING. New spring growthโ€ฆ yay! Warm summer daysโ€ฆ yay! Fall leaves to run throughโ€ฆ yay! Cold snow to exploreโ€ฆ yay! I think weโ€™d be better off if we could all adopt that positive view of life.

  5. I love experiencing the newness through childrenโ€™s eyes and puppy’s eyes. Bowserโ€™s joy is evident in the photos of the pretty snowโ€ฆand we are still in the pretty stage. Thank you for my smiles, Deb๐Ÿ’•

  6. Flinter!! Spell check hated it but I love it. Of course we just like go straight to winter here but I definitely saw flinter last year in Jasper. I love the joy that Bowser and all dogs get at snow. Even the 14 year old retriever loves it. As do I. Bernie

    1. Every dog Iโ€™ve ever met loves playing in the snow! I love snow too, albeit the love affair is brief, and more so with each winter as I get older ๐Ÿ˜. Hence my move to the island. Thanks, Bernie ๐Ÿ’•
