A few days before I was set to leave for the mainland to help my sister move, Bowser and I hit the trails. It was going to be such a gorgeous fall day, I was tempted to try him out on the longest walk yet in his young life: the Cable Bay Trail and Dodd’s Narrows. It ended up being about a 6K walk (and of course it was more like 8 – 10K for Bowz because I let him off-leash when there was no one around). He loved it!
We hope you are enjoying a fabulous fall (if in the Northern Hemisphere – otherwise, Happy Spring!).
Rock on,
The WB
Hi Deb – beautiful day as you say … looks like he loved his leash-free walk … wonderful to see him … he has to have the best Bowzer ‘tache … I went to Morden Colliery and round that trail … but not down to Dodd’s Narrows … stunning country. Cheers Hilary
It truly is. Did this walk again yesterday with my friend from Ontario – no Bowser this time, though. Another beautiful walk on a beautiful day! Thanks, Hilary 💕
What a wonderful, long, walk! My Katie-girl used to love walking in the woods, too, especially when she could be off leash. Thanks for sharing your boy with all of us. He’s adorable.
Happy to do so! Technically not MY boy, but don’t tell Bowser 😁. Thank you, Dawn 💕
He’s such a perfect little picture poser. Bet he had a great time…
He did seem to really enjoy himself! I was a bit worried that it would be too much at once, but Bowser did great! Thanks, Rivergirl 💕
Bowser back to his best
Absolutely! Thanks, Sheree 💕
What a beautiful trail for a long walk. 🥰
It is a favourite! Thanks, Jane 💕
Every good walk should be followed by a nap for the 2-leg and 4-leg critters.
What a beautiful day to be at Dodd’s Narrows. I used to walk with my Cairn Terriers along the Narrows, but on the Gabriola Island side, where I lived. I miss that beautiful area sometimes especially in the fall. But now I’m enjoying life on the beach in Mexico and contemplating getting a dog again. Like you I’m a widow and left Crazy Town. Have started to enjoy my life and freedom again. Always look forward to your Sunday blogs!
Cheers.
That’s wonderful, Vivian! Mexico – I have plans to visit someday. I hope you get a dog again, someday. Thank you for commenting 💕
Right? It should be a rule written down somewhere 😁. Thanks, Kate 💕
Stunning views. I’m absolutely envious.
I bet he was exhausted. You too! He’s one lucky puppy.❤️
Yeah, we were both pretty tuckered! Thanks, Kari 💕
Sounds like a nice brisk walk – for you both. I am vicariously enjoying all these autumn posts while sweltering in our South Florida heat! Keep ’em coming.
I will try! Try to stay cool, Suzanne! Thanks 💕
Mustache love!
You bet! Thanks, Tracey 💕
I am so glad that Bowser has turned out to be such a hard-core hiking dog (truly, I expected nothing less of that amazing guy). And yes, he definitely wore the mustache the best! 😀
Hehehe! I agree! Thanks, Donna 💕
I am always amazed at – and more than a little jealous of – all the gorgeous hikes you have around you. Bowser looks like the perfect trail buddy.
Bowser is shaping up to be a perfect trail buddy! I feel like I have only barely scratched the surface of hikes here on the island. Thanks, Janis 💕
Bowser is one beautiful dog. Such a sweet face! And the rocks!!! I’ve never seen these before. Awesome. Thanks so much!
I think he is a beautiful dog too! Thank you 💕
Schnauzers are fun. But they are stubborn. Dealing with carol baskins boyfriend, Milton the schnauzer this weekend.
Oh boy, that’s for sure! Hope Milton wasn’t too much of a stubborn schnauzer for you, Kieran. Thanks 💕
You’ve found a beautiful place to live. I like your nature photos and I like, of course, Bowser’s pink tongue doing its thing. You two are quite the duo.
Thank you, Ally💕
That’s the first hike we did when we got to Nanaimo in July. It looks stunning in the fall. We saw a sea lion, too. Good for Bowser for staying with you. He’s quite adorable as I’m sure he knows.
Yes, he know he’s cute as heck 😁. Thank you, Sheila 💕
You didn’t have to pick him up and carry him at any point? Great little hiking companion.
Nope, he did the whole walk! Yes, he’s shaping up to be a great little hiker. Thanks, Jean 💕
I believe I like Bowsers mustache better than the Rocks! How fun was this for him? Running free, but staying next to his incredible G’ma!
I was at the Vet’s office a few weeks ago and a lady had TWO Mini-schnauzer puppies. They were so cute, I wanted to steal them!
I totally get you wanting to steal those puppies! Bowser had lots of fun that day and I was happy to share this incredible trail with him. Thanks, Suz 💕
Oh Deb, looks like Bowzer has some competition there – what an absolutely gorgeous location. I have mega envy. Not that he doesn’t look his usual handsome self 😉 ‘cos he does.
It’s one of the most beloved walks on the island, I’ve been told. Thanks, Debs 💕
Not at all surprised! And your photographic skills do display it (and the Bowz) to their best 🙂
These are gorgeous photos, Deb. A beautiful walk! Bowzer and his tongue, though…🥰
I know, right? He’s such a cutie and it was a glorious walk! Thank you, Natalie 💕
