P is for Patio Time #AtoZChallenge

My aunt and uncle’s incredible patio, in the Netherlands. Inspiring!

In the summer, I do a lot of living on the Badass Rooftop Patio.

Newly finished rooftop patio in 2015
Early morning coffee on the patio
Firepot evenings on the patio
Enjoying a cold one on the patio
Trying out new camping gear on the patio

I love patio life – anywhere, anytime in the good weather.

Montreal brasserie patio – with Mizz CJ and her pup (and beers)
In Cleveland, on a restaurant patio with my son and his girl.
In Barbados, overlooking the ocean at Butterfly Beach Resort

Do you enjoy spending time on the patio? Where is your favourite patio?

Rock on,

The WB

Can you guess my theme for this year’s A-Z Challenge? All of my A-Z posts this month will be tied into my theme, which is represented by the title of a song that was popular when I was a child. Can you figure it out as the days (and posts) go by? Leave your guesses (one per day only, please) in the comments. At the end of the challenge, I will reveal the theme. Have fun!

  1. We live outside on our back deck in the summer. Our season is so short, we have to cram as much outdoor living time as possible into the few short months that we get!

I love the tent on the deck. Did you actually sleep out there too? 🙂
When the boys were young, they loved to do that … with their tent on the back deck just outside the back door …. with the outside light on 😆

    1. Yes, I actually slept out on the deck one night last summer. In hindsight, Saturday night wasn’t the best choice, however. It got quite noisy when the downtown bars let out. 🙂

  2. We have a deck for sunbathing and hanging out until the bug season, then we have a screened in porch where we spend a good deal of our summer evenings. A few years ago we installed a ceiling fan on the porch to maximize the time we can spend out there.

  3. Your rooftop patio looks really appealing, Deb. I can see why you’d love being out there.

I have lots of decking at my house and outdoor furniture but I spend a very small fraction of my time sitting outside. The problem with a rural property with lots of trees is that the bugs we talked about in your earlier post are just terrible. I bought a hammock a couple of years ago and set it up on the back deck but between stuff falling on me out of the trees and black flies and mosquitoes snacking on me while I tried to nap, well the hammock didn’t get even a single use last year. This year I think I’m going to try bat boxes in the cedars to control the mosquito population. Then maybe I can enjoy patio living almost as much as you do.

    1. Sounds like you could use a screened-in area, Karen! Like one of those dining tents/shelters that campers use? My rooftop patio is almost bug-free, most days – another reason to love it!

P for me stands for porch. My front porch is my favourite place in the warmer months. I crave porch time. Either alone with a good book and my IPod music or with my good friend and neighbour. I can spend all day out there.

Here's where the magic happens. I love comments!
