We saw a new-to-us type of mushroom on a recent walk.
I’m not certain but the closest identification I can find is that these are called Hare’s Foot Ink Caps.An updated Palace of the Mushroom Fairy, in all its 2025 glory. These mushrooms are called Western Jumbo Gyms. I hope my American friends and readers are having the most wonderful Thanksgiving long weekend. And that the rest of us are enjoying our run-of-the-mill weekends too, whilst keeping our elbows up.
Wow, I love the mushroom photos. I’ve never seen anything like the first one either. Looks a lot like a giant snowflake at first glance. The last ‘mushroom’ looks a lot like love incarcerated.
They truly are! I briefly thought about focusing my scientific career on the study of fungi when doing my undergrad. I can’t remember why I changed my mind though…Thanks, Bernie 💕
I really love finding mushrooms on hikes through the woods. It’s amazing how many varieties there are. Those blueish gray ones are so pretty (not as cute as the salt and pepper one, though).
While Bowser is the cutest and always takes center stage, those ethereal mushrooms are fabulous! Never seen one so pretty…
Aren’t they though? I’d never seen this type before on any of our many walks. They look like fancy hats for fairies! Thanks, Rivergirl 💕
The photos make them look like they’re made of glass.
❤️
Love the type that pops up when treats are on offer!
The best type! 😁 Thank you, Sheree 💕
Cute mushrooms! We got 5 inches of snow yesterday and last night so we’ll have fun playing today.
Oooh, have fun and stay safe on the roads, Dawn! Thanks 💕

That first type of mushroom I’d never seen before either! And that last one is the definitive picture of love (of treats 😉)! Thank you, Jean 💕
The salt and pepper type…🤣🤣. Mushrooms are such an interesting plant/fungi.

Ah the things we can’t remember!
Interesting mushrooms but I like the butt best!
Heck, yes! Thank you, Kate 💕

It IS amazing how many types there are! I agree with your ranking too😉. Thanks, Janis 💕
Hi Deb – what amazing ‘glass- looking’ mushrooms … they are extraordinary … so much to learn about them – Bowser always! Cheers Hilary
Thanks, Hilary💕 I hope we see more of these. They were so mesmerizing!
Hi Deb, I am often in awe of the diverse mushrooms on our Island. Ha, ha ‘my favourite mushroom.’ Fun and interesting photos! 💕Erica
Thank you, Erica 💕
