The Sunday Schnauzer – Signs of Autumn

We had some rain last weekend and the land is looking slightly refreshed. More rain is on the way, and it is still desperately needed. I decided to take some shots on one of our daily walks this past week.

More and more leaves are on the ground now.
Water levels are still very low in the creek.
Big Leaf maple leaves are changing.
The ferns are turning bronze.
Bowser and I agree the air smells (and tastes) delightful.
There are some beautiful reflections in what’s left of the water in the forest pools.
We are patiently waiting for the mushrooms to sprout again on this particular dead tree (The Palace of the Mushroom Fairy).
And some of us are patiently posing waiting for a treat.

We hope you have a weekend filled with treats.

Rock on, and elbows up…

    1. Yes, banned in Nova Scotia due to the combination of extreme fire risk and people’s extreme stupidity and sense of entitlement. We are under a complete fire ban here as well and yet some folks think this applies to everybody but them. There have been some devastating human-caused fires on the island this summer. I wouldn’t want to be banned from the woods, but would comply if needed to keep the forests and adjacent communities safe. It’s only until the rains come and we had another good rain last night. Thanks, TG 💕

  1. It’s pretty but it kind of makes me sad every summer. Time is slipping away. Pen and I went to our weekly Friday night group walk, and this time it was at a park with a paved trail through the woods. Lots of leaves on the ground. It was so pretty. But also it got dark at 8 p.m.! Wait a minute! I need more time!
