I meant to post these photos last month and they got lost in the bazillions millions hundreds dozens of photos I accumulate on my phone each month (almost all of You Know Who). So here of some photos of Bowser and his daddy and the chickens, all peacefully (?) coexisting and free-ranging on the property.

Because Bowser is who he is (and we love him for it), he will never be able to be around any small thing unsupervised. A farm guardian dog he will never be. It is not in his DNA. Schnauzers were bred to hunt and kill small prey around a farm, and Bowser cannot discern between vermin and domestic small things.
And, let’s not forget his love of anything that squeaks (or squawks):
Like I said, supervision is CRITICAL and MANDATED 😉.
We hope you have a calm and peaceful weekend.
Elbows up!

You can’t fight nature. But maybe someday he’ll make chicken friends.
I’d just be happy to know he won’t chase them down and injure them! But like you said: you can’t fight nature. Thanks, Rivergirl 💕
My neighbors have chickens. The rooster gets us all up early so we can be more productive than we were prior to his arrival ladt year. Sigh.
Oh yes, roosters! We’re not allowed a rooster but that doesn’t stop some in our neighborhood from having one. “No sidewalks, no sewers, no rules!” That’s our neighbours’ mantra 😂. Thanks, Dawn 💕
If he hasn’t killed any yet, he’s a good boy!
So far his halo is untarnished! Thanks, Kate 💕
Bowser and his squeaky toys never fail to crack me up! Thank you for the morning smile!
Better a squeaky toy than a squawking chicken! Thanks, my friend 💕
Your post reminded me of a funny video I saw recently of a chicken and a dog chasing each other around their yard. They kept switching up who was chasing who. It was obvious that they were having a great time. NOT that I am suggesting the same thing might happen with Bowser… best to keep him under control. 🙂
Agreed! Maybe if they were raised together, they’d play together but not likely to ever happen now. Thanks, Janis 💕
The chickens are beautiful! My god that squeaky toy gets a lot of action with Bowser! I’ll bet you have to hide it from time to time.
I think they’re gorgeous too! The squeaky toys stay outside!!! 😂 Thanks, Jean 💕
My daughter has chickens too and two big dogs that have to be watched constantly. Thankfully, there have no incidents on the mini farm in the suburbs. 🙂
Let’s hope it stays that way for both these flocks! 😁 Thanks, Mimi 💕
Hi Deb – had a bit of a chaotic weekend … but these things happen … I’d have been grateful to have a Bowser around! The family seem very well centred … great to see and read about – chickens en famille … fun – cheers Hilary
Sorry to read that! Hope things have settled down for you. Thanks, Hilary 💕
What a beautiful array of chickens. I love a bantam 🙂
I saw my first bantam at a farm show. So tiny! Makes ours look like emus 😂. Thanks, Debs 💕
I laughed out loud at the video of Bowser with his squeaky. He was going at that thing like a cat with a catnip toy 🤣
It’s a sight, that’s for sure 😂😂😂 Thank you, my friend 💕
I’m smiling. In the epic battle of dog versus chicken… who will reign victorious?
[I didn’t know you were still blogging. Happy to know you’re still at it. Don’t know how I lost track of you, mea culpa.]
Just checked my Feedly account to find out why I wasn’t getting your posts. It said that you didn’t have a feed to follow, but I knew you did. So I started over again like I’d never followed you and *magically* you had a feed that I could follow. Kind of trippy, but I’ll not overthink it. So, how ‘ya been? 😉
Isn’t technology grand? I used to keep track of bloggers by email notifications and then suddenly they just stopped! Thanks for nothing, WordPress 😒. I’m doing great, thanks! Hoping you’re the same 💕
Interesting about the email notifications stopping. I’ve never done that but not surprised WP screwed it up somehow. Doing great, surviving the heat.
It’s so easy to lose track of bloggers – I do it all the time! So far there are no casualties in dog versus chicken and we hope to keep it that way! Especially since we have babies now – I’ll be revealing them on the next Sunday Schnauzer 😁. Thanks, Ally 💕
