The Sunday Schnauzer – Warmer Weather Brings This

After having the trail almost always to ourselves for months now, the warmer weather is bringing more humans out. How do I know this?

Not only flowers blooming on the trail, but also trash left behind by partiers. I had seen piles of trash – including returnables/recyclables – on the trail the day before, so I came prepared for this walk. Or so I thought…
To paraphrase a line from Jaws, I’m gonna need a bigger bag…

Anyways, back to prettier things.

Like trilliums!
And what I think is called a gummy gooseberry.
And of course, the patiently-posing-for-a-treat spring-flowering Schnauzer Berry.

Happy Mother’s Day, everyone!

Elbows up,

The WB

    1. I probably get about $10-15 in returnables per year (at $0.10 per item) from what I pick up on my walks. I call it my trail management “salary” 😂. Thanks, Rivergirl 💕

  1. I need to do that along our road. We have a drinker that lives up the street and he tosses his empties into the ditch. 2x a year my husband and I pick up a couple construction size garbage bags of vodka and whisky bottles. I’m surprised he hasn’t killed someone. I need to get going because it’s easier to do before all the leaves are out.

  2. How nice of you to clean up the mess left behind by others. Sounds sort of like something mothers do. I hope you have a nice Mother’s Day, WB.

    1. Thanks, TG 💕 I get so much pleasure out of walking these trails that I feel the need to give something back to the land. Also, not having to walk past other peoples’ piles of trash every day is good for my blood pressure 😂.

    1. Yeah, you’re right Ally. I didn’t make the connection when writing this post. I pick up at least one grocery bag full of trash per month (more in the summer) and if I had some kind of trail vehicle with a trailer I could pick up bigger stuff like car parts, tires, construction materials…thanks 💕

Hi Deb – well done … there’s so much irresponsibility around … people don’t care. Our beaches are awful at this time of year … we (the council) spend a fortune on the rubbish collectors … we’re lucky they’re there. Blissful time of year for the blooms to come out … I’m loving ours – cheers and enjoy the weather. Hilary

The gummy gooseberry is especially cute this time of the year. And the trilliums, here, are a protected species. Nice to see them looking so good up there.

Here's where the magic happens. I love comments!
