The Sunday Schnauzer – Happy Spring!

There is something new just past the entrance to the trail.

Bowser noticed right away. What are those?!?!

People tend to throw their yard waste into this area as it looks untended and abandoned. (Actually it is owned and/or managed by a logging company.) This means that any bulbs that are discarded in the waste have a good chance of coming up…blooming where they are “planted”, as it were!

I happened to catch Bowser mid-nose lick. No, he wasn’t thinking of eating them but we both enjoyed looking at the flowers and also, being out in the bright sunshine!

Hoping the weather is bright and warm wherever you are this weekend.

Rock on,

The WB

  1. Pretty find! I love bulbs. I have a heap planted in our yard, but the place where they are planted is now destined for other things, so I will have to replant. They were probably getting to the end of their lives anyway (at least, I’ll tell myself that!).

    1. My mom once threw some unwanted iris bulbs across the street into the vacant land there (we lived right on the edge of town). I saw those irises come up every year of my life, while at that house 🤣. They (or their descendants) would probably be still coming up if the land hadn’t been disturbed to put in a driveway. I don’t know if bulbs have an end-of-life. Thanks, AJ 💕

Hi Deb and Bowser – well spotted … I love the bulbs appearing through the grass, undergrowth and in our gardens … it’s a wonderful time of the year – cheers Hilary

  3. Who in the world throws out flower bulbs?
Nice to see a little hint if things to come though…
We had an inch of slushy snow yesterday so that’s still a way off for us.
    🥴

    1. Well, I’m going to be throwing some out…there are some irises coming up in my backyard. I don’t like irises much to begin with, but especially since they were a passion of a creepy dentist I used to go to. Ugh…I don’t need to be reminded of Dr. Cop-A-Feel every time I go into the backyard. But other than irises, I agree with you! I wonder if they were thrown out accidentally when some soil was dug up. Thanks, Rivergirl 💕

  4. I have noticed that dogs yawn and stick their tongue out a lot, based on the photos I have of Maya! Sometimes it’s funny, but when it’s the only family photo I take in an area, it’s annoying! And, I only see it afterwards when flipping through the photos, of course. 🙂

  5. At my old house I had a lot of “volunteer” plants and bulbs that came up in the field behind my house where I threw out potted plants and deadheads from potted gift plants.

Bowsers got all kinds flowers to look forward to this summer. He’s not a year old yet, is he?

    1. Bowser turns a year old on April 3! I have to plan a little “party” for him and me, since his parents will be vacationing in Hawaii during that time. I’ll try to remember to document it for the blog. Thanks, Jean 💕

  6. They look like a version of crocuses. Would that bulbs or any flowers grow even if treated well at my place. I put loads of things in place, and they never make it.
And no one else commented, but I will. You had a dentist who did that? WTF.

    1. Yes, I did. And I didn’t even know the extent of it until I got another dentist and realized this one didn’t have to lean his arm on my chest in order to work on my mouth. My new dentist didn’t rake my body with his eyes either, and make creepy comments to me.

I thought they were crocuses too. Thanks, Bernie 💕

  7. Yay! Flowers. That means spring is right around the corner for you guys!!
(Peanut tries to eat my flowers, so there’s usually an argument in the garden!! LOL)

Here's where the magic happens. I love comments!
