The Sunday Schnauzer – Cone of Shame

When this post goes live I will be on the mainland (and Bowser-less), helping my sister move house. My other sister will already be there, also to help with the move. This is going to be the first time the 3 siblings have been together under one roof since 2015! Hopefully we survive the experience.

That makes the summer/fall of 2022 officially the “moving season”. I have been moving carloads of stuff and helping renovate my daughter’s side since July 1, and renovating my own place since August (still in progress). And now, gladly helping my sister as well. And when I return to the island, I will hopefully have my flooring finished so that I can finally officially move my furniture out of storage and into my new place. Just in time to pick up my first houseguest from the airport for a week of adventuring! (My kitchen won’t be finished but we will just muddle through.) Whew…I am getting tired just typing all of this. 😂

Anywho, more in upcoming posts (including before and after photos) once the dust settles (Novemberish, perhaps).

Bowser is completely healed from his recent surgery and fun and feisty as ever. I can’t stop myself from sharing some shots of the Dog Wonder (aka canine flashlight) in his headgear. Enjoy!

Sleeping off the drugs…
Finally up and somewhat alert.
Seriously, people?!? Must I?

Rock on,

The WB

  1. I wish I was moving…into a nice new house that doesn’t have any current maintenance needs, that is much smaller so needs a lot less cleaning and with a garden just the right size to have flowers but not so I have acres of weeds to remove (gives you an idea of my weekend!).

    1. He did get out of the cone of shame quite quickly and his healing was nothing short of miraculous in its speed! No, not Joanne this time…it’s a non-blogging friend (I have some of those too 😉) who I’ve known since the 80s. Thanks, Deborah 💕

  2. Moving is so exhausting especially when there are renovations involved. Glad Bowser is mended and back to his normal puppyhood although the cone of shame IS part of puppyhood, isn’t it.

Hope you’ll be getting some quality sibling time in during the move.

  3. Hopefully by now the cone is off. Good luck to you! I hate moving and was no traumatized by my last one that I don’t want to do it again. Helping someone else is easier. You don’t have to make those decisions on what to keep and throw.

      1. It was. I was fortunate my step-daughter helped out. Sometimes I put her in charge of decisions. For the most part she made the right one but I am missing a butter dish! 🙂

  4. Oh my word! That poor baby! ROFL here… hate to laugh when I know he doesn’t feel well and he’s probably wondering, “What did I do to deserve this??” LOL One day at a time… hang tough!

  5. Moving can take it out of a person. I wish you, and your siblings, well with it. I know that you’ll make the best of it. As for Bowser, that cone of shame is rather festive. On him, it’s stylish!

  6. I hope your drive over the mountains was uneventful and your sister’s move is going smoothly. I miss our chats!! ❤️

I know that Bowzer is now cone-less and back to his regular self, but omg, he looks SOOO dejected in that last photo!

    1. I think he was probably still high, in that last photo 🤣. I miss our chats too!! Sis is supposed to get internet today and I can get off the weak guest network here at her new place 🥳. Thanks, Joanne 💕

Hi Deb – Bowser-cone looks pretty good to me … and obviously buzzing, nothing lost there. I’m sure all is going well with your sister and her move, and then back for finalising yours and then ready for winter. All the best – with a bit of Bowser fun in between! – cheers Hilary

That is one cute cone (although clearly the wearer is even more so). I hope the world of moving settles down for you soon and that your own place becomes a home once more 🙂
