Yes, poor octopus! I don’t know if it was so pale just because of death, or because it’s time had come ala the protagonist in My Octopus Teacher. I remember that octopus losing all of its pigmentation as it was dying (it was at the end of its natural life cycle). Thanks, Kate 💕
You have a wonderful life living on the island and reading your blog is a reminder to me to get outside more now that I have some wildlife along great walking paths. Others even saw deer out their windows yesterday.
Hi Deb – lovely photos … and yes memories from VI; I’d like a ground maintenance crew here … brilliantly quietly going about their business. The contributions to Samhain … and the offering of local honey = delightful. While the hag stone … I don’t see why it shouldn’t be an oyster shell – the oyster shells have probably swamped hag stones over the millennia. A perfect Samhain day … enjoy these sunny days – cheers Hilary
It certainly is…any wild place, really. This beach is the former site of a traditional winter village for the Snuneymuxw First Nation. Thanks, Rivergirl 💕
Thank you for sharing your time in the beauties of the natural world with us! It must be a total joy to know such things are so close to your little nest. 💕
Every day of the damn year there are people swimming in the waters off of Departure Bay…I have never gone to the beach and NOT seen people going in the water. I blame Wim Hof. Thanks, Kieran 💕
Looks like a gorgeous day. Definitely warm enough for walking and watercraft but I’m with you. That would be one chilly swim although I saw a video awhile ago about (?) Swedish women who swim every day in the ocean.
Great pictures. Poor octapus!

Wishing you a Happy Hallowe’en and a Festive Samhain as well.
BTW – I adore your Ground Maintainance Crew!
Thank you, my friend 💕
Beautiful! I love the shell with the hole… looks like part of a craft project to me!
Thanks, Janis 💕
I like your ground maintenance crew.
I do too. They are very quiet and low-emission 😁. Thanks, TG 💕

You have a lot of indoor stuff to contend with right now, Jean. The outdoors awaits you, when life settles down again! Thanks 💕
This is a lovely time of year. Your photos are relaxing. Hoping you had a great all Hallow’s Eve.
Thank you, Ally 💕 I hope you did as well.🎃
What a lovely way to celebrate Samhaim – in the quiet and beauty of nature ❤️
It was such a gorgeous day, after all the rain and wind we have experienced lately. I had to take advantage! Thank you, my friend 💕

Thank you, Hilary 💕 My oyster shell shall suffice for now, but I am ever on the look for an actual hag stone! 😁
Love the respect of honoring the land and ancestors. Walking a beach is good for the soul..

I love your sweet offerings.
I bet the water was chilly! Thanks for taking us on your walk; lovely scenery.
The sea water is always chilly, Suz! Even in high summer. Thank you 💕
You live in such a lovely area Deb.
Leslie
Thank you, Leslie 💕

It truly is, Del. Total joy. Thank you 💕
Who is in the waters off Canada in almost November? I won’t go in the ocean in San Diego after September 1…

I guess crazy is contagious. I’d rather sweat than freeze.
It’s supposed to be good for you but I am on the fence (and on the shore) about it. 😁

It’s a thing here too, Bernie. Every day of the year people are going into the waters at Departure Bay. Thanks 💕
Love the way you recognize and celebrate beauty in everything – the sign of a joy filled human!
Thank you, Suzanne 💕
