After a few short days back in frozen Ontario from delightful Vancouver Island (here and here), I was once again boarding a plane – this time for Barbados!
Mizz J pointed out to me that I will be visiting 2 oceans in the same month (never likely to happen again), and I think that is pretty cool!
I don’t normally take vacations back to back like this. I would have rather been visiting Vancouver Island over the Christmas holidays. Work/staffing commitments decided this timing for me.
Anywho, once again CJ and I are in Barbados, for our annual 2 week beach vacation.
So far there has been a lot of these:
And these:
And this:
Just to spice things up a bit, we decided to forgo the beach walks some mornings to head north to explore the Garrison District instead, which includes the racetrack.
We saw horses crossing the highway to head to the beach, so of course we followed. And we were not disappointed.
Yesterday we realized, after a full week of lounging on the beach (in the shade, of course!), that we had achieved peak “sluggitude”, so we decided to walk to the Barbados Museum, located behind the racetrack. We needed a dose of culture; to hell with the heat of the afternoon.
After the museum, we had time to kill before the restaurant we wanted to visit opened, so some rehydration was in order.
And then it was on to dinner and dessert, at Brown Sugar.
Before we leave on Friday, we are planning a visit to this place:
The beach is calling my name ever more loudly, so until next time…
I can feel the warmth of your photos all the way here.
You had perfect timing in your trip to Vancouver Island….and in leaving here. Shortly after your departure we had a HUGE dump of snow. So much so, Richard and I booked a very last minute vacation and left too.
Sadly, we are now back in the snow and the cold. Enjoy the beach. Your photos are stunning!
Thanks Donna! It snowed the morning I left Vancouver Island. I had escaped a deep freeze at home while there, and I’ve escaped a big snow/ice storm while here. My sister refers to me as some kind of a weather wizard 😜. I’ve enjoyed your last minute adventure as well!
Love all your photographs—the horses, the beach, the bread pudding. I am there with you in spirit! You picked the perfect time to be on vacation from the frozen north.
Did I ever tell you that I honeymooned in Barbados all those years ago? I obviously have very fond memories … well, except for the rum. I discovered I didn’t like rum and still don’t.
Loving the warm vibe of your photos – especially the horses bathing in the water. That’s one of those bonus finds!
Enjoy the rest of your warm and sunny vacation 🌞🌞🌞 Sadly, it’ll still be winter when you get home.
No, I didn’t know that Joanne. Lucky you!
Yeah, it’ll still be winter but for less than a month!!!!😁 I’ll try to pack some sunshine in my carry-on, to get me through until then…
2 weeks! Oh you do live big, don’t you? I like your photos and am happy to know you’re enjoying yourself. I didn’t know that about George Washington. The things I learn here.
Those are some pretty dramatic sunset shots, but the ones that stole our hearts, are the ones of the horses in the ocean taking a much needed dip!
We have never been to Barbados, but have heard good things about it.
The rum references had us thinking back to Nicaragua where rum is one of the main exports and is a favourite drink there as well. Unfortunately, neither one of us likes rum as a drink, but that desert, now that could be open for negotiation!
Looks like a wonderful holiday. And as someone who has ugly feet, jealous of your cute painted toes and toe ring (I don’t do anything to draw attention to mine but would so love to rock a toe ring).

Thank you Jean! Glad to read that you are warm and safe again…😘
Rock on WB, Mississauga, is still icy, snowy and cold.

I’ll try to bring back some better weather!
That would be most welcome… 😉

oh – you are so optimistic! That’s why I hate March. I expect spring and she fails to deliver 😏
I have never been to Barbados… and it looks like I need to remedy that! Watching those beautiful creatures swim in the ocean must have been a treat.
It really was a treat, Janis. Thanks!
I’m as green with envy as those palm trees. Two weeks away from winter!
I’ll go without a lot of things year round just so I can make my monthly contribution to my travel fund. I need my winter escape 🥶.

Thank you, Ally! About to head off to explore GW House. Hope to have more to share on ye olde blogge later…🌴😄🌴🇧🇧

Rum – didn’t used to like it either but have now developed an appreciation! Thanks guys. 😁

Thanks AJ! It was a really great holiday.
