November started off with enough colour:
But the wind and rain soon stripped the trees and I struggled to find whatever colour was left:
And then it wasn’t long before this happened:
And I did manage to capture one spectacular sunset:
But the snow didn’t last, and we were back to dull skies, clouds and rain and a dearth of colour:
Clearly I wasn’t the only one that felt November needed some brightening up:
I noticed many things on the trail that I just walk on by, when the foliage is rich and lush:
And while I was noticing all these beautiful and delightful things, I felt like something was noticing me as well:
I went to the Orthodontist’s office on November 26. Soon I won’t need to visit them anymore as I am almost at the end of my Invisalign treatment (yay!). This time, it was full-on Christmas decor:
These were some of my impressions of this overall mostly dreary November.
Hope yours was more colourful!

Rock on,
The WB
Thankfully, we can rely on Christmas decorations and lights to come out at this time of year to help us ‘adjust’ to the endless gray. I’d be just as happy to not see any white stuff for a very long time!!
I love that tree knot. Definitely creepy!
Thank you, Joanne. I can’t believe I never noticed that knot before. I’ve walked by it countless times. Even you and I walked right by it!
Hi, Deb – These are awesome photos. It is amazing how pictures that lack colour often highlight details that we missed previously. Wishing us both a warm and bright December!!
Thank you, Donna! Here’s to a brighter December and the returning of the sun at Solstice!
Great photos! Was that eye in the tree for real, natural?
Thank you,Jean. Yes, absolutely natural!
Beautiful photos. I think the orange berries might be called bittersweet. If I’d taken photos down here in Ohio they would have been just as dreary.I wasn’t quite ready for that this year. Or maybe it’s fitting after all.
Thank you, Reticula! I think you are right about the berries- it rings a bell with me. I think this November was exceptionally dreary – where has the sun gone?!?
Great collection of images Deb. That’s a good point above about how lack of colour highlights texture, shape and pattern more. 🙂
Thank you, Su! All taken with my phone. Someday I hope to own and learn to use a real camera so I can take better photos.
I can understand the desire for a “real” camera; but camera phones have the major advantage of portability, and as someone famous said, the best shot is the one you took.
You have a good eye, and whatever camera you use, I’m sure you will capture great photos. I read this recently, and really like it …

Thank you Su! That means a lot, coming from someone whose photography skills I much admire! Love that quote too…
🙂 I’ve been thinking about this a lot (especially since I had to sit through a “show” of photos by someone who owns some ridiculously expensive kit and still manages to take the most boring images I’ve ever seen).
What a transformation through November! And that tree knot is just so funky!
Thank you, Ju-Lyn!
This is a wonderful visual reminder of how quickly color can disappear from your world. I like the hockey tree theme, not because I’m a huge fan, but because I like those colors.
Thank you, Ally! Either the brothers who run the office are Leafs fans, or they have a lot of patients who are. Not a hockey nut either, but I do like a themed tree.
Love the pictures, even though I despise winter and the cold weather. I’ll forgive the Leafs Shrine.
Thank you, Don! I’ll pass on your forgiveness to my orthodontist 😜.
Beautiful photos! I love the change of seasons – even when it is turning dark and cold.
Thank you, Janet! I do too but at this point the occasional bit of blue sky and sun would be welcomed!
Beautiful
Thank you!
November is one of the bleaker months, and like you, Deb, I look for color wherever I can find it. When you really look for it, like you did, you find more than you thought you could. Nice photos!
Thank you Molly!
Great photos–thanks for sharing!
Thank you!
