A couple of summers ago, I got to try out a stand up paddle board, at my sister and her wife’s place. It was their neighbour’s, who very neighbourly offered it for use when she wasn’t at her cottage.
I thought I’d find myself falling off the board and sputtering in the lake after about 5 seconds but that never happened. I guess I have more innate balancing ability than suspected.
Ever since then, I’ve had a hankering to do more of this. I have my eye on an inflatable SUP that is getting great reviews, from Costco. But maybe not this year. Unless I can sell one of my kayaks. Because people are starting to talk. 😉
Have you ever tried stand up paddle boarding? Have you tried an inflatable board?
Rock on,
The WB
Can you guess my theme for this year’s A-Z Challenge? All of my A-Z posts this month will be tied into my theme, which is represented by the title of a song that was popular when I was a child. Can you figure it out as the days (and posts) go by? Leave your guesses (one per day only, please) in the comments. At the end of the challenge, I will reveal the theme. Have fun!
Look at you go!! I would love to try SUP and had planned to take a beginner’s clinic this year at Paddlefest .,,, but guess when Paddlefest is this year? That’s right – the weekend my son is getting married 😕
Think my family would notice if I disappeared one day 😉
Gilles and I were looking at the inflatable SUPs at the Outdoor Adventure Show. They are quite remarkable – I would never have guessed they were inflatable.
That’s too bad about Paddlefest, Joanne! Yeah, I think people would notice if you slipped away…hehehe! Good to know about the inflatables…never actually seen one in use (that I know of), but like I said they are getting great reviews.
I had taken a look at the inflatable kayaks, but generally speaking, they don’t get good reviews because over time they develop a sag where the seat is.
I suggest you go to a store and actually look at an inflatable. I think you’ll be really impressed.
I did not know inflatable kayaks were even a thing! Saw a foldable one on Facebook once.
I’m boring compared to you and Joanne. I love to look at water, don’t particularly care about being on it. But I’m impressed with both of you for your curiosity (a characteristic of wisdom after all) and your eagerness for new experiences. In Deb’s immortal words, rock on!
Not at all, Karen! You have introduced me to so many things in the short time I have been following your blog, which I am so grateful for. The last thing I would call you is boring!!! Rock on, indeed!
I could never do that without tumbling into the lake. My younger self would have been right there with you. I can’t imagine what song relates to this post…if you are still doing that theme.
Yes indeed, Jean! I am still doing that theme, for the duration of the challenge. There is one song that ties into every post in the A-Z Challenge. I will reveal the theme after my Z post is published.
Cool! I’ve never heard of this and I have lousy balance– BUT this looks like fun to me. Now all I have to do is find a lake, then a kind neighbor, and prepare to get dumped into the lake over and over again… but cool!
Cool….and potentially refreshing – to get dumped into a lake over and over again on a hot day! Hehehe!
I’ve never tried it – it’s one of those things that just doesn’t look like I would like it. Give me my canoe any day!
Can’t argue with a woman who loves her canoe!
Wow! Look at you!!!! You have incredible balance!!!!
Thanks Ju-Lyn! But did you notice how still the lake was? It wasn’t much harder than just remaining standing up…well…anywhere. 🙂
That’s what folks who have good balance will say! I have trouble keeping still on my Wii Board!
🙂
